Actress Felicity Jones is a part of the cast for the new Star Wars: Rogue One film, playing the character of Jyn Erso, and has said that filming the action sequences for the upcoming blockbuster was “exhausting”.
The fight scenes in particular took “a lot of hours of practice,” said the 32-year-old.
“I’m laughing now, but at the time, it was physically exhausting. It took a lot of hours of practice, and I worked with a kung fu coach, and I learned to fight, even though I never thought beating up Stormtroopers was something I’d be doing in my job.
“It came through hard work and lots of practice and rehearsals,” Jones said.
She has also previously commented that she knew that one of her lines in the film, ‘may the force be with us’, would be “momentous”.
She shared: “I have to say it was one of those moments that I was really nervous about for weeks before. I kept walking around my house just trying out the line.
“I’d just be in the bathroom and be like, ‘May the force be with you. May the force be with you. May the force be with you.’ You just go over and over and over again because I knew it was such a momentous moment for the film.”
As well as Felicity Jones, Rogue One stars Diego Luna, Mads Mikkelsen, Forest Whitaker, Jiang Wen, Donnie Yen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Ben Mendelsohn – though strangely, the latter does not feature in recent trailers.
The film will hit cinemas on December 16th, and is much anticipated by fans of the juggernaut franchise.
